Greenland Volunteers give U.S. 48 hours to deny plans to colonise Greenland

For immediate release

Copenhagen — Greenland Volunteers issued a public question to Kenneth A. Howery, United States Ambassador to Denmark, following repeated public statements by President Donald Trump framing Greenland as an object of ownership, control, and strategic acquisition.

These statements raise serious concern about whether the United States recognises Greenlanders as a people with political rights and self-determination.

Public Question to the United States Ambassador to Denmark:

“Will the United States categorically state that it has no plans to colonise Greenland — yes or no?

Greenland Volunteers request a clear public response within 48 hours of this release.

Greenland Volunteers further specify that any response from the United States Embassy be made publicly and on the record, and submitted in writing via the organisation’s official contact channel.

Greenland Volunteers stress that this is not a rhetorical question, but a request for a clear and binding public clarification.

“Greenland is not an object, a resource depot, or a psychological trophy. Greenlanders are a people with the right to decide their own future,” Max Aki Paasovaara, the leader of Greenland Volunteers said in a statement.

The organisation calls on the U.S. Embassy in Copenhagen to respond publicly and without ambiguity.

Silence, evasion, or conditional language after the 48-hour response period will be interpreted as a refusal to rule out colonial intent.

“Will the United States categorically state that it has no plans to colonise Greenland — yes or no?”
